2014-15 Calendar Update
It has been determined that our students will meet and exceed the state’s required number of instructional hours for the 2014-15 school year without our having to schedule a make-up day for the February 27 "snow day."  The school year is still scheduled to end as planned on Friday, May 22.

MLK Technology Champions
MLK's own, Ryan Griffiths and Erika Wadsworth are being honored as 2014-2015 Technology Champions by Rio Rancho Public Schools. We thank Ryan and Erika for working tirelessly to use technology to enhance the learning experience of their students. 
A Reminder about Dress Code
Please help your child to review the district policy for dress code at elementary schools in RRPS. CLICK HERE to review the policy. With the warmer weather, please remember that shorts must not be shorter than the tips of fingers, shirts must have sleeves (must cover the shoulder), sandals must not be worn on the playground or for PE, and  decals and appliques on shirts must be no larger than 3" by 3".  Thank you. 
Camp Invention at Cielo Azule Elementary This Summer
Parents, we are beyond excited to announce that Camp Invention will hold a summer session at Cielo Azul Elementary from June 8th-12th (9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.).  Don't miss your chance to register your child and guarantee a spot before it's too late!  Please click here for early registration discounts and information.  
Pick-up and Drop-off Areas are Cell Free Zones
Thank you, MLK families for helping to make the student pick-up and drop-off procedures run smoothly! Please refrain from using your cell phones while in the drop off zone to assure maximum safety for our students and staff. Thank you.

Donate Your Old Technology to Help MLK
Did you purchase some upgraded gadgets this holiday shopping season? Please consider donating your old phones, tablets, laptops and used ink cartridges to MLK. We send them to "Green School" and receive money for MLK to spend on classroom supplies. Bring donations to your child's teacher or the workroom. 
MLK Lion Pride Carnival
Join us for the 2014 Spring Carnival on Friday, May 1, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, at MLK!  We will have fun, food and prizes for our first outdoor carnival night! Presale order forms for carnival punch cards should go home by Friday, 4/10. Carnival tickets will also be available for purchase from the PTSA, at the purple lot 4/20-4/24. Bring your family and see your friends and teachers!

Visitor Sign-In Policy at RRPS Schools
As many of you already know, we are now using a Raptor sign-in process at many RRPS schools including MLK. Please know that when any visitors and volunteers come to our school campus, they are required (without exception) to sign in and out of the building/campus in the front office.
